Allen Smutylo: Talks/Presentations/Lectures

To groups and organizations wishing to invite Allen Smutylo to speak at your meeting, group or conference, please contact allensmutylo@bmts.com.

Allen Smutylo has talked and lectured extensively from both his experience in the Arctic (15 years doing kayaking and backpacking expeditions), as well as 6 years traveling with Himalayan nomads. Audiences have been enthralled by these audio / visual and artifact based presentations, combining artwork, storytelling, as well as historic and archaeological documentation. The unique point of view given by Smutylo, the artist, the writer and the adventurer allows him to explore a wide range of ideas and subject matter including: the adaptations of people and wildlife in wild and remote environments, the making of art and how to communicate ideas visually, the logistics of adventure travel, the contrasts and comparisons in the spirituality of isolated polar and mountain cultures, and pre and post modern man's relationship to the natural world.

A portion of the sales made at the presentation, from Smutylo's acclaimed book (see reviews), Wild Places Wild Hearts - Nomads of the Himalaya, will be allocated to help support one of the host group's fund raising causes.
